Synopsis:  Becca Crane (Jenn Proske) moves to Sporks to live with her clueless father, Frank (Diedrich Bader), after her mother starts an affair with Tiger Woods. She is intrigued by the mysterious and aloof Edward Sullen (Matt Lanter) whom she wants to befriend but he warns her against it. Edward later explains her saying he’s a vampire, though he only consumes animal blood. The pair fall in love and Edward introduces Becca to his vampire family. Becca gets a paper cut, causing Edward’s family to relapse by her blood’s scent and attempt to kill her.

Edward ends the relationship fearing for her life but saving her from one of the three nomadic vampires who have been killing humans, Jack (Charlie Weber). Becca becomes heartbroken and depressed for months. She is also comforted by her deepening friendship with Jacob White (Chris Riggi). Through some miss communication Edward believes Becca has killed herself and attempts to provoke the “Zolturi” — a powerful vampire coven capable of killing him — by exposing himself in the sunlight at the site of the school prom.

Review: Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer return with another of their parodies Vampires Suck. After making the world laugh with Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartan, Disaster Movie it is time they take a dig at Twilight. They have condensed Twilight New Moon and Eclipse into a non-stop assault on teen angst, sexy bodies and gloomy settings. As like all their movies of the past Jason and Aaron patronize over acting which remains constant throughout the movie!

The biggest thing which works for the movie is the fact that it has created an almost exact replica of the films from setting to actors. The makers of the Twilight series might also applaud this act by the directors. But that’s perhaps the only thing that you can appreciate in the movie. Jenn Proske, Matt Lanter and Christopher N. Riggi hardly do anything to make a mark for themselves in the movie other than biting squirrels and making the vampire look like a harmless creature.

Making a parody may not be as simple as the directors thought it to be. The movie didn’t seem any different from their past ones. Even parodies need to have a good screenplay which was completely missing from the movie. The audience is expected to laugh just too many times in the movie for them to actually enjoy it. Vampires Suck is surely the worst that Jason and Aaron have made in their lives.

Vampires Suck is not the kind of movie people would go with any expectations but that doesn’t give the makers the liberty to make a parody of themselves and the audience. It is a light hearted flick which fans of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer would love to see. The director duo might just have over done in some of the parodies in the past for them to hold the audience. The 80 minutes of meaningless parody seems never ending. It’s not worth buying a ticket for this vampire movie the flick truly lives up to its second name!

Review: Initially titled The Baster is based on a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides of the same name. Director Josh Gordon and Will Speck who gained enough ‘glory’ from the ‘Blade of Glory’ makes a bold attempt with a comedy. First things first The Switch is not a pregnancy-themed Hollywood product but a warm, quirkily observant film. It also gets strengthened by some appealing performances in its course.

The movie did not make tall promises and thus has very little to do to please people. Review: Cannot think of any action superstar missing on the list? Sylvester Stallone’s directorial has an all action-movie icon in its cast. But the sum total of all these talent doesn’t seem to result into a blockbuster. It rather seems to be an hour and ten minutes with all these stars where each one tries to steal the show but miserably fails. The only thing missing in the movie seems to be the ‘plot’ which Stallone might have considered unnecessary thanks to the huge star cast.

The movie remains unexplained right from the start to the end and these seems to be a lot of disconnect between the sequences. If that was not enough than the logic or rather the absence of it makes the audience scratch their head. A plank of wood over burning oil will also burn but Sylvester Stallone seems to think otherwise! The movie tries to hide its flaws with the overuse of adrenaline but the audience is smart Mr. Rambo.

Although there can be no question raised on the individual talent of the stars they do not sum up well for the director or vice versa. The story keeps of revealing itself at regular intervals and you will not have any interest in the climax. The movie is a montage of all the action movies in Hollywood in the last three decades. Stallone should limit his direction to Rocky and Rambo series as he can’t expand his fan base with The Expandables.

If you are willing to spend some time watching some full throttle action then The Expendables is the perfect movie for you. The only thing that the movie can boast of is its action. In case you look for more in a piece of cinema than relax at home rather than catching up this movie. At one hour ten minutes, The Expendables neither seems short nor long but certainly one movie you would like to forget soon.

Synopsis: Kevin Carson (Bow Wow) a recent high school graduate, works in a prominently featured mall shoe store and would go to design school if he didn’t have to take care of his grandmother (Loretta Devine). Kevin hangs with his best friends, Benny (Brandon T. Jackson) and Stacey (Naturi Naughton). Stacey is the girl he loves but he himself isn’t aware of this. She would have loved him to see in the design school but he didn’t listen to her advice.

Fourth of July is fast approaching, Kevin purchases a pair of lottery tickets and settles down in front of the television to catch the winning numbers. When Kevin realizes he’s just won $370 million dollars, he knows his neighbors will all come knocking the moment word of his massive windfall gets out. His immediate concern is to protect his ticket from the hands of his neighbors and claim the prize.

The local thugs are looking to take the ticket by force, and the sexiest girls in the neighborhood are begging to bear his children. Unfortunately for Kevin and his grandma, the lottery-claims office doesn’t open until Monday, and over the next 72 hours there are more than a million ways the winning ticket could fall into the wrong hands. Kevin uses every trick in his amour to protect his lottery ticket.

Review: What would you do if you won the lottery tomorrow? This is the question that opens the Erik White’s debut movie Lottery Ticket. It is another of those rags to riches story only told in a comical manner at least the director tried so. As the plot unfolds this question seems vague as ever. Erik should have rather used what would you do to protect your lottery ticket for 72 hours from your neighbors? One thing is for sure the movie won’t definitely get any million dollar prize.
Comedy element seems to be missing from the plot of the story which is as predictable as sunrise. Bow Wow delivers some great performance to make the movie a little watch worthy in the end. The movie seems to be heavily inspired by the 1995 movie Friday although it’s not a copy or a remake. Lottery Ticket isn’t surely going to win any lottery soon. The 95 minute runtime seems a little long to many.
Lottery Ticket fails as it is short on cinematic substance. Full of clichés, Erik tries to hide all the flaws behind some sleazy comedy added to this are the unnecessary melodrama in the movie which seems to be a key ingredient. The dialogue is witty and the actors are funny. If you’re looking for a comedy which makes you laugh occasionally Lottery Ticket is the perfect movie for you but you can wait as it won’t take too much time for another Lottery Ticket to hit the theatres.

Synopsis: Unlike the English settings in the world class novel “Emma” by Jane Austen, Aisha is picturized in our very own country capital. This is not a movie of a hero avenging his parents’ death, or rescuing the much sought after heroines of the Hindi film industry. It is in fact a heroine centric movie where Sonam Kapoor appears her best. She comes across as Cupid personified, and aims to get two not so fortunate people together in a way of marriage. Her friends Pinky and Shefali do all but worship her, whereas Arjun always keeps telling Aisha to mind her own business. But, Aisha being Aisha does not pay heed to them, and continues to spend her father’s money as if it were plucking leaves from a tree. Her father’s credit card brought Aisha’s ‘unfortunates’ a make-over, based on which matches were found. This constitutes the initial half of the movie. The second half however is more towards the typical and predictable type of many Hindi movies; the heartbreaks, the realization of love and so on. And like most Bollywood movies, this too does not have any surprising finish.

Review: The glamour in the movie is the first thing that will hit the eye. The attires worn by all the actors involved are a treat to watch, and leaves many with only the wishful dream of affording such designer collection. Designer Kunal Rawal has done an outstanding job in making all look absolutely fab throughout the movie. Although, coming from Kunal it isn’t a surprise at all.

Apart from the glamour one must also pay attention to the slight details that have been cared for by the director Rajshree Ojha. He has mentioned that the original story and today’s Indian culture are quite similar in a way, and it was not difficult for him to adapt that here. He has however failed to hold the whole film in place as there are quite a few drops during the movie. What is called a short duration in the Bollywood movie context, 2 hours could have easily been shortened further. Even though it looks like bits from another famous story “Pride and Prejudice” have been included in the movie’s second half mostly, it could have done well without that too. However, being Rajshree’s first commercial movie he should be given a pat on the back for creating a successful ostentatious cinema. He has at the end of the day been able to bring out the best in the actors.

Although a depiction of a 200 year old classic, a Hindi movie, especially a romantic one is never complete without song and dance. The music director Amit Trivedi has given Aisha songs to lookout for and which have justified appearance; except for a peppy party song which comes towards the end of the movie. All the songs are enjoyable.

Cinematographer Diego Rodriguez has done a fine job in bringing out the best in the movie. Although the second half of the movie is not very appealing and drags in a few places, but Editor Sreekar Prasad could not have done anything better than what he has done.

The characters in the film are over shadowed by Aisha, which probably was the main objective, but, it is imperative that a few names be mentioned. The first names that come to mind would be Aisha’s friends Pinky played by Ira Dubey, and the “behenji” type girl Shefali played by Amrita Puri, who’s aim is to win the love of her life. Pinky’s character is the opposite of Shefali’s. She is the out-spoken and extrovert girl, whereas Shefali is one who has come to Delhi with hopes of marriage and family. Ira has proved in this flick that she has picked up traits of acting from her mother Lillete Dubey. Acting her part perfectly Ira aka Pinky has managed to steal many movie buff’s hearts. The second strike was made by Amrita aka Shefali. Being born and bred in Mumbai, it was a total makeover to the simple, Punjabi speaking small town girl in the movie. She has done more than justice to her role and could be the one to watch out for in the future. Abhay Deol, or Arjun as he is called in the movie has been seen doing non-stereotype roles till date. His roles have been powerful and acting superb. He has however not been given a chance to showcase his talent and has underperformed in the movie; and maybe for the better. Director Rajshree would not have wanted his lead to be overshadowed by this experienced actor. However, Abhay Deol has never looked better in a movie as he has in this. Good enough to make the female fans go gaga over him.

The overall reaction to the movie is a mixed one, and cannot be differentiated as a hit or a flop. To the soft hearts this movie is a definite appealing one, while the more practical viewers have a different comment. But, it can be safely said that Aisha is a movie which can be watched one weekend evening with your friends and family.

The CIA soon swings into action and starts investigating into the accusation. Salt is unable to reach her husband. Review: The Cold War days are back as Phillip Noyce takes us back to the days of the espionage. Four years after his last movie Catch a Fire Noyce tries to bank in with Angelina Jolie as a spy. Hats off to Jolie for pull off this role which was written keeping Tom Cruise in mind which he declined to do the movie choosing Knight and Day over it. Only Jolie could have pulled off the character of a Cold War era spy.

The film lacks due to a weak plot which hardly generates any suspense. Noyce who had worked with Angelina Jolie in The Bone Collector tries to create a super charged atmosphere. The movie reaches states of hyperbola and comes crashing down at more than one instance. The relationship between Evelyn and her arachnologist husband is shown in flashbacks which doesn’t seem to be convincing.

When all these don’t work the director tries to make it into a seductive thriller and with Jolie around he doesn’t find it too difficult. The movie seems too much of a fantasy at time especially with Jolie doing all the running around. She takes down men twice her size, scales buildings with bare hands and feet, leaps from the roofs of speeding vehicles Salt looks a lot like a more serious version of the Charlie’s Angels films, which have no pretense in reality.

If you are an Angelina Jolie fan Salt is not worth missing. She has pulled off another of her brilliant performances in the movie. The action sequences and the cinematography are worth praise in the movie. Phillip Noyce has done a good job with the direction but suffers from the fact that there isn’t much in the story. At 100 minutes the movies is worth a watch but nothing worth an Oscar for.

Synopsis: Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief. He is the best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. This ability has made Cobb a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.

Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish one last inception which is close to impossible. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. Despite careful planning they have to face a dangerous enemy who is able to predict their move.

Review: Inception was shrouded in mystery during its production. No-one really knew what it was all about till some thrilling trailers full of stunning visuals. Christopher Nolan comes to Inception riding high on the success of his last movie The Dark Knight. Added to this the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie and the expectation levels soared high. Filled with action, romance and drama Inception has been one of the most awaited movies of the year.

Nolan has had a great track record hardly having made a dud with and Memento and The Dark Knight being his all time best. Inception doesn’t fault his track record either and is once again a original, gripping piece of film making and storytelling. Breathtaking at moments, Inception is a film that will entertain you as well as make you think. It certainly takes the human imagination to new levels.

The movie has been rightly titled as Inception a heist movie. It has a bit of love story, a lot of science fiction and definitely a lot of action. The dream worlds are so well imagined by the director that you standup and bow to human imagination. Everything seems so unreal at the same time woos the audience. Christopher Nolan certainly proves the reasons for being in the elite group of helmers.

Apart from Leonardo DiCaprio, Inception does not have a huge star cast. DiCaprio delivers one of his best performances in the movie, so does Marion and Tom Hardy. The film has been shot in six different countries including Japan, England, France, Morocco, the U.S. and Canada to create the different dream worlds. It surely has created a magical dream world which are scarier than the scariest of dreams.

You need to brace yourself to go to the unimaginable when you watch this movie. It is not everyday that you come across an Inception. The tantalizing end leaves plenty of room for discussion and debate. The 148 minutes of runtime seems to fly as the movie holds you on. It is definitely a must watch for everyone. See this movie once and you will never want to have a dream in your life ever!

Synopsis: The A-Team belongs to the action film genre. The film opens with the creation of the A team, which after eighty years and eighty successful missions  has become a highly-regarded elite combat unit.

This time the A team supremo Hannibal was contacted by CIA agent Lynch, who needs their help to steal the plates and over a billion dollars of counterfeit currency from Iraqi insurgents. However, the mission backfires when the shipping container carrying the counterfeit plates and Morrison’s  (who was the commanding officer of Hannibal) car was  destroyed by the men of Brock Pike of private security firm Black Forest.

With Morrison gone, who was the only proof that Hannibal and his team was operating for USA, the A-Team members were grossly dishonored, tried and sentenced for ten years in Federal prisons.

Later, Lynch met Hannibal and escaped from prison with his assistance. Hannibal reorganized the team and launched an assault against Pike. However, to their dismay the team learns that the Arab, in reality, is Morrison, who’s working in team with Pike after double-crossing Lynch.

The film ends with Lynch being revealed as the perpetrator of the plan and taken into custody by the CIA.

Review: The A-Team was a adaptation of the 1980′s TV series of the same name. However, according to many of the movie goers, the film failed to live upto the expectation. Though Liam Nesson was the right pick for Hannibal and Bradley Cooper was appropriate as Face with his roguish charm, the others have failed to make a mark in the movie. The inclusion of Jessica Biel was just an eye-candy for the viewers.

As a final note, the movie was a disappointment for many, especially for those who were a fan of the TV series  from which it has been adopted.
