Synopsis: Director Priyadarshan has gifted us with some great comedies and Bumm Bumm Bole does justice to it. Adapted from renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi’s masterpiece Children of Heaven, our desi director tries to go away from the common traits of laughter and create a world of innocence through children. In fact Bumm Bumm Bole is quite an appreciative movie which the audience will be happy to watch.

Review: When it comes to comedy, Priyadarshan is one of the fine directors around. He in fact transforms the original story into a desi Indian style which does not seem to be exaggerated. Set amidst the backdrop of a terrorist infested region, the film is all about the story of a brother and sister and their parents. The subtle comedy matched with a concrete story line makes it a good watch for both children and adults.

The plot of Bumm Bumm Bole is centered on a not so affluent family and their daily struggle. It is the story of Pinu (Darsheel Safary) and Rimzim (Ziya Vastani) and their father Khogiram (Atul Kulkarni) and mother (Rituparna Sengupta). As per their father’s wishes they go to a good school but due to financial problems they are unable to cope with the rising standards. In fact the parents find it very hard to provide for the uniform or shoes.

The main trouble occurs when Pinu somehow loses his sister’s shoes. Afraid to tell their parents about it, the siblings decide to share the same pair of shoes. Time goes on and eventually, Pinu gets to know about the Interschool Marathon where he can get a pair of shoes as the winner’s prize. Will he able to win the race to gift the shoes to his loved sister? You have to watch the film to know what happens.

The uncomplicated story of the film has a wonderful tone and style which does not make you feel bored at all. Yes, the end of the film is a bit too stretched and slow and could have been done away with but nevertheless the screenplay and plot seems alright. Manisha Korde does a good writer’s job for the movie by adapting it from the Iranian original. The lush green locale and fine camera work are a relief to the eyes.

Special mention needs to be made about the acting of Darsheel Safary and Ziya Vastani. Since his acclaimed debut in Taare Zameen Par, Safari has shown his skills as a talented child actor. The same can also be said about Vastani whose performance is adorable. As parents, Atul Kulkarni’s and Rituparna Sengupta’s performances are commendable, although the latter does not get much scope.

Although he does not create another masterwork like the original film but at least Priyadarshan puts up a descent show in Bumm Bumm Bole. On the whole, it can be a good story to watch and relieve your mind from tensions.
